ThinkGlobal Arts Foundation in partnership with the City of Naperville and Office of International programs at North Central College recently hosted Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, an Award-winning Author at a community event at the Wentz Fine Arts Center and with programs at Hill Middle and Metea Valley schools.

Celebration of Peace 2009

"We Are One" was held at the Wentz Concert Hall, located on the campus of North Central College. This event is a multicultural extravaganza, that was held on November 14th, 2009, was the closing event of the Celebration of Peace month.
Creative Stamp Design & Peace Essay Contests: Winning art and essay submissions were presented at a Press Conference held at City Hall in Naperville. To view the submissions, visit the winning selections page.
Alex Counts came to visit at Whole Foods Market on October 16, 2009 in Naperville. A unique and valuable partnership with Whole Foods led us to have the community event with him as the Keynote Speaker.
Alex Counts addresses approximately 1,200 High School students, gathered from area high schools, at Naperville Central High School.
Film Festival featured Black Nature from the Sierra Leone Refugee Arts band.
Artist-in-Residence - Nani Agbeli: The Artist-in-Residence workshop was offered to middle school students in Districts 203 & 204, Jefferson Junior High School and Granger Middle School.
Our Honorable Mayor Pradel issued a Proclamation for the Celebration of Peace 2009 event in Naperville on October 6th.
2009 International Day of Peace was celebrated for the very first time in Naperville on September 21, at Brookdale Elementary School.
On September 2nd, we received confirmation of children in Malawi and Tanzania getting their Essential Binders through Arts For Peace.

Celebration of Peace 2008

Robert Thurman made two appearances while in Naperville, the first was to the students of Naperville Central High School, and the second was talking to the community at North Central College on October 1st.
Martin Luther King III makes an appearance at Neuqua Valley High School October 29th.

ThinkGlobal Arts participated in the 9th Annual “Around the Corner, Around the World” Celebration of Naperville’s Cultural Diversity International Festival on February 10, 2008. Interest in the message of peace was high. People visited the booth several times to learn more about the Celebration of Peace 2007 event, and also were very keen on being much better informed about any such event we may plan in 2008. Also presented were facets of the great diverse culture of India from its music, arts, crafts, and the more recent heightened presence of India’s contributions to global technology and corporations.

The Indian sari & the Bindi decoration on the forehead attracted many to the booth. Many people that day proudly sported the Bindi on their foreheads, a symbol of peace and auspiciousness, while others tried on the sari with grace and charm. Children and adults also waited patiently in long lines for a Mehndi decoration on their palms!

Celebration of Peace 2007

The Inaugural Celebrations were held at the Naperville Municipal Center on September 7, 2007. A Proclamation by Mayor Pradel issued on August 21, 2007 preceded the Inaugural event, and was commemorated by a tree planting ceremony at the Riverwalk. The grand Inaugural opened with a welcome address by Mayor Pradel, three exhibits on two floors, a movie on Gandhi's life, followed by refreshments. Balloons and 'Celebration of Peace' T-shirts and cards added to the special event.

The Celebration of Peace 2007 in Naperville was honored to have had Rajmohan Gandhi as the keynote speaker for the event. Over 900 High School students listened to his address at Naperville Central and interacted with him via Q&A. Additionally, 16 select High school students were fortunate to join him for Lunch at Waubonsie Valley.
The Watoto, kids from an Ugandan orphanage presented a dazzling array of songs that delighted Naperville audiences.
The Panel discussion on "Peace & Ahimsa" was held on September 18, 2007. The featured moderator was Jerome McDonnell from NPR's 'Worldview' program.
This colorful multi-cultural show was held on September 29, 2007, at the Waubonsie Valley Auditorium.
